30 Minutes or Less

Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nick Swardson

Director: Reuban Fleischer

Rated: R

Two would be criminals kidnap a pizza delivery man and strap a bomb to his chest. Then give hima short window of time to get them 100,000 dollars or be blown up.

Clocking in at a swiftly paced 83 minutes is Director Ruben Fleischer’s follow up to his 2009 hit Zombieland. Teaming up again with his Zombieland  star Jesse Eisenberg(Nick) and hot comedian and Parks and Rec cast member  Aziz Ansari (Chet) as two best friends who must Rob a Bank in hopes of getting Dwayne and Travis (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson) to remove the bomb vest from Nicks body. Dwayne and Travis plan to give the money to a hit man named Chango (perennial scene stealer Michael Pena) so The Major (Fred Ward) can be offed leaving his lottery won millions to his son Dwayne.

The plot is not overly intricate and provides many opportunities for would be bank robbers Eisenberg and Aziz to partake in some outlandish dialog and get into some unconventional situations while at the same time allowing Mcbride and Swardson  do what they do best Mcbride excels as the overly confident foul mouthed loser who thinks he is better and smarter than he clearly is and Swardson is at his best as the oddball idiot who occasionally isn’t as stupid as he appears to be.

Where 30 minutes or Less succeeds is not in the plot but in the quick pacing, comedic action and hilarious and vulgar dialog. Mcbride is in his element and gives us a criminal Kenny Powers that cannot be denied. Swardson shows that he is not only the best part of Adam Sandlers craptastic movies but can hold his own with comic actors in films that are funny as well. Aziz and Eisenberg play off each other well as the BFF’s who remain friends regardless of how awful they are to each other. Each man couple has great chemistry and 30 minutes or less is a swiftly paced and very funny action comedy for adults.
