The Autobots learn of a crashed ship on the moon that contains the materials needed to save Cybertron, Which in the wrong hands threatens all humankind.

Dark of the Moon the third installment in the Transformers saga, We find out that the reason Kennedy was so adamant on reaching the moon was not just a simple space race with the soviets but to search an alien spaceship that crash landed on the moon. Switching to present time Megatron has hatched a plan to get the Autobots to retrieve the contents of the ships and unknowingly set in motion the events that will get rid of the Autobots while making him the supreme ruler.

First and Foremost Transformers Is a summer action movie, any drama in the film is utilized to set up the next big action sequence. Shia LaBeouf (Sam Witwicki) does a solid job of keeping the train on the rails while newcomers to the series Patrick Dempsey (doing a great job of playing against type) and Frances Mcdormand keep the story afloat as Adversaries.

Superior in every way to the dreadful second installment, Bay caters his films to the base instincts of a teenage boy and this mostly pays off, from the moment we are introduced to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley shot from behind with a walk that was taken straight from her time with Victorias Secret and the panties to match (Proving Megan Fox as window dressing was easily replaceable), Bay makes no secret of who his core audience is and proves he will do everything to please them. While the second installment in the series was a cluster more concerned with overwhelming the senses rather than telling an interesting or coherent story the third film utilizes 3D to streamline the action yet make it more visceral. From LeBoufe’s comical tirades to an amazing sequence involving skydivers in wingsuits (Bay used real skydivers) Bay has decided to bring some semblance of fun back to the screen.

Transformers Dark of the Moon is a pure popcorn film and for what it is, it gets the job done. It’s not going to get confused for an Academy Award winning drama yet it’s not trying to. It’s a feast for the eyes with a good enough story and some amazing 3D effects, its summer escapism at its best.
