Come celebrate 10 years of independent filmmaking and screenwriting with the SoCal Film Festival in Huntington Beach! Join us from Oct. 1-5 for brick and mortar events and from Oct. 5-12 for our Online Private Screening Room.
More than 45 movies will screen in the theater, another 60 online, and we celebrate nearly 20 screenwriters! Additionally, we have parties, discussions, red carpet events, and Q&A sessions following each movie program.
Highlights include the surf epic, MECCA II (Oct. 1) from Bryan Johnson. The filmmaker and pro surfers Ricky Whitlock, David Suhadonlnik, and JD Lewis will be on hand for an after screening discussion. On Thursday, Oct. 2, THE TOY SOLDIERS will screen. Director Erik Peter Carlson and others will be on hand for a red carpet screening as well as a Q&A session to discuss this movie which was shot in and around Huntington Beach and gets a theatrical release in November.
Thursday will also feature a program filled with short documentaries which will also have a red carpet and post-screening Q&A. Friday, October 3, will have short selections of comedies, music videos, micro shorts and horror flicks, including a Q&A with NAKED ZOMBIE GIRL’s own naked zombie girl, Meghan Chadeayne!
Saturday, October, 4 will start with a collection of dramatic shorts including SINS OF THE FATHER with Sons of Anarchy actor Emilio Rivera. Cast and Crew will be on hand for a Q&A after. SINS was directed by Rachel Howard and shot by legendary cinematographer Russell Carpenter (Titanic, True Lies).
A midday screening of “local life” movies will feature Russell Emanuel’s RESTORATION OF PARADISE about the Bolsa Chica Wetalnds, along with SHADOW, a surf-themed short film shot in Huntington Beach.
Next, SEAHORSES, the “ultimate indie date movie” by Jason Kartalian will screen. The critically acclaimed indie will start with a red carpet, then a pre-screening party, and end with a Q&A.
Saturday will conclude with a TBA replay of a movie, and Sunday will see two roundtable discussions.
Then, from Oct. 5-12, nearly 100 movies will screen in the Private Online Screening Room.
