DAWN
Starring: Tara Lynne Barr , Reiley McClendon , Hannah Marks
Director: Rose McGowan
First time director Rose McGowan trades in her on screen talents for a short that focuses on a young girl in Kennedy era America.
Young sheltered Dawn catches the eye of the local gas attendant. When he comes over to visit the thought of first time love leads to Dawn making choices that will change her life forever.
McGowan delivers a beautifully shot and compelling short. It’s the type of story will resonate with you long after you view it. Upon first watching it the ending might leave you expecting a twist or swerve that would take the film to a different direction yet never materializes, in hindsight you realize that it couldn’t have ended any other way and the material would have been weaker for changing it. The tone for the era is perfect and the material is everything you would expect from McGowan beautiful to look at while exuding an undercurrent of creepy.
