NEW YORK, NY – FEBRUARY 6, 2014 – Horizon Movies is proud to announce the DVD release of the award-winning sci-fi film PIG. Directed by Henry Barrial, this thriller – about a man who wakes up in the desert with no memory of where he is or who he is – won 10 festival awards, including Best Feature at Sci-Fi London and Michigan’s Thriller! Chiller!; and Best Sci-Fi Feature at Shriekfest, Shockerfest, the Phoenix Film Festival, Athens Sci-Fi, and the World Science Fiction Convention. It was an Official Selection at over 35 film festivals worldwide, including Palm Springs, Nashville, Cleveland, Atlanta, Oldenburg, the Brussels Int’l. Fantastic Film Festival and the Comic-con Film Festival.
PIG is a mind-bending sci-fi thriller in the tradition of Memento, “a riveting adventure of confusion and identity” (). The Desert Star Weekly called it “a brilliant sci-fi thriller…the most provocative film I saw at the Palm Springs Int’l. Film Festival.” “An impeccably crafted indie gem that genre fans need to see” (CultCuts Magazine). The film was inspired by Ray Kurzweil’s book The Singularity Is Near.
A man (Rudolf Martin, NCIS) wakes up alone in the desert with a black hood over his head and his hands tied behind his back. He has no idea who he is or how he got there. The only clue to his identity is a name written down in his pocket, leading him to Los Angeles. The more he discovers about his past, the less he understands, until he stumbles upon something bigger and more unusual than he could have ever imagined.
Henry Barrial premiered his first feature, Some Body, in Dramatic Competition at the 2001 . Barrial is also a Sundance Screenwriters Lab Fellow. His most recent feature, The House That Jack Built, premiered at the 2013 Los Angeles Film Festival and was written by the late Joseph Vasquez, (“Hangin’ With The Homeboys”).
