When I first heard about Danny Abeckaser, it was that he was a NYC club promoter/owner who has done some acting and produced the Sundance hit Holy Rollers. Everything I read from his nick name as “A-List” to the fact that if Danny wasn’t at the club you didn’t want to go that night, made me think I was going to interview a slick, fast talking player who was long on surface yet short on character. I anticipated him to more than likely blow off my lack of A-list cred as not worth his time. Upon walking into the press suite I quickly realized that if one of us was an asshole it wasn’t Danny it was me and my preconceived notions about the man. Surrounded by a plethora of press folks and publicists in the middle of the suite at the Four Seasons sat Mr Abeckaser quietly watching The Knicks play the Celtics in the playoffs. Before I could say anything a hand was outstretched and immediately the phrase “Good People” comes to mind. Next thing I know we are discussing who is better, an in his prime Jordan Or Lebron. I sat down with Danny for close to 20 minutes and I can honestly say he is one of the most genuine and solid dudes I have had the pleasure of coming across. False Bravado? Not this guy he is funny, friendly, articulate and passionate about the film industry, he radiates positive energy. We discussed Holy Rollers, Martin Scorsese and his upcoming roll in The Iceman (He is fantastic in it). I honestly hope he enjoys much success, hopefully the Nick Name “A-List” becomes prophetic.
