AN INTERVIEW WITH ‘GHOST BRIDE’ DIRECTOR DAVID BLYTH
DAVID BLYTH – GHOST BRIDE

Midnight Releasing are unleashing the Ghost Bride into our loungerooms this November. We caught up with the film’s director, New Zealand’s David Blyth about how it all came together.

I believe the movie was released Halloween 2013 in New Zealand. It obviously did well – you now have a U.S distributor!

Ghost Bride opened the Asia Pacific Film Festival in on Halloween 2013.

In early 2014 we secured distribution through Acort International for a November 2014 release.

What are the U.S plans – does it involve a VOD release, or a more traditional DVD release?

The US plans are for both VOD and DVD release in North America.

Did the success of “Wound” pave the way for “Ghost Bride”?

Yes Wound was distributed in USA , , German speaking countries and Australia and New Zealand going to over 40 International festivals.

Are many of the same folk involved in this one that were your last film?

The executive producers, DOP and editors all were involved with both Wound and Ghost Bride.

I believe “Ghost Bride” also has German contribution. Was that in a financial sense?

Yes we have a German Producer who has also been instrumental in getting International distribution for Ghost Bride including a release in all the German speaking territories as well as contributing to the films budget.

Such a spooky movie – any strange occurrences on set?

No strange happenings on set but a big shout out to Marc Mateo our DOP who did a fantastic job creating the moody look of the film.

If the film takes off in the states, will you consider a sequel?

I would always consider a sequel, but I think there is a bigger chance of the films original storyline being remade on a large budget with big names.
