Why shows like True Blood are more popular than ever
Vampires are proving to be a big hit this season, in both TV and cinematic form. From chiselled cheekbones to steely eyes, there’s something seemingly attractive about these creatures.

Their good lucks are possibly one of the reasons many choose to watch shows such as True Blood, the hit vampire series from HBO.

This season’s series has taken on a new and exciting twist, with the introduction of Japanese scientists who have discovered a way in which to create synthetic blood. This in turn has allowed the Vampires to leave the dark nights behind, joining others in the human race.

Yet despite this, there has to be a twist and humans are of course still a little hesitant when it comes to these creatures and their actions.

So, what’s it all about?

The story, which boasts a backdrop of a quaint Louisiana town – Bon Temps is home to Sookie – Anna Paquin and one of the show’s main characters.

She plays the local waitress who ultimately falls in love with Bill Cropton – a handsome 173-year-old vampire. Just as vampires appear to be society’s cast outs, so is Sookie.

She possesses a gift that permits her to hear what the individuals around her are thinking. Of course, as with any great vampire story, a series of disasters are revealed throughout the show, many of which test Sookie and Bill’s love for one another.

Based on Charlaine Harris’s ‘Southern Vampire Mysteries’ novels, this American drama is a perfect rendition of the book. It’s certainly a great watch for those wishing to learn the ins and outs of vampires with a different nature and also, how humans and vampires live amongst one and other.

The series itself is relatively dark and explores several modern-day issues, including violence, discrimination, the fight for equal rights and drug addictions. Other issues covered comprise the influence the media has on us and the power of faith.

The show itself has won a number of awards and is often the subject of a variety of favourable reviews.

Both a Golden Globe and an Emmy are already in the bag for this series, whilst more is yet to come in the shape of a seventh and final showing which will go live in the summer of 2014.

Until then, avid fans are going to have to wait to see the next story unfold.
