Nothing special happens in his life, he spends his days at work and nights at home being alone, while his co-workers meet at a bar to chat and have some drinks. Walter lives in his own safe world and is ruled by routine. Seems like everybody likes Walter, but no one can say that truly knows him or ever has shared a word. He is that kind of people who are alone being in the crowded places.
No one knows that this small and wordless guy has a huge heart and imagination which is hard to describe. He prefers to live in his fantasies because the real world gives him nothing memorable or special. But everything changes when a new worker comes to work to the office and now Walter’s life becomes bright and full of colours and he is enslaved by the beauty of this woman named Cheryl. From now on he can think only about her and his heart beats her name.
The main character is played by famous comedian Ben Stiller – the actor also directed the movie. He plays a man who spends his days at the office of the Life magazine working as the photo editor; he operates with photo negatives and prepares pictures for the further use. All troubles begin when the main picture for the latest issue is missing and now the life of the company turns upside down. Walter’s boss demands to get that photo back and the next time he sees Walter he must see the photo as well. Troubles just pop up, Cheryl doesn’t notice him and the boss is very nervous about the risen problem, Walter understands that he just cannot leave the situation like this; it is time to make some action. He faces all his darkest monsters and dares to do anything what is possible to get the negative back. Love and belief in your strength can do amazing things.
