, March 3, 2014 – Sony Pictures Classics fêted its Academy Award® nominees Saturday night at its annual Pre-Oscar® dinner party at Supper Suite by STK, presented by Möet & Chandon and generously supported by FIJI Water as part of A-List Communication’s culinary platform events.

The dinner honored SPC’s Oscar® nominees, led by its Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress nominees Cate Blanchett (the BEST ACTRESS WINNER as of last night!) and Sally Hawkins, respectively, for their performances in Woody Allen’s BLUE JASMINE. SPC also honored Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy, and Ethan Hawke for Best Adapted Screenplay for BEFORE MIDNIGHT and Michael O’Connor, nominated for Best Costume Design for Ralph Fiennes’ THE INVISIBLE WOMAN.

Guests sipped on Möet & Chandon Imperial champagne while feasting on specialty STK menu items curated by Executive Chef Robert Liberato. After the first course, Co-Presidents and Co-Founders of Sony Pictures Classics, Tom Bernard and Michael Barker, congratulated all three films and everyone involved. Barker delivered an impassioned special tribute to Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who won an Oscar starring in SPC’s CAPOTE.

The evening featured a performance by fresh-faced singer songwriter, pianist, and guitarist Olivia Somerlyn —best known for her hit video “Before It Began.” She wowed the crowd with her acoustic version of U2’s nominated song Ordinary Love. At the end of the evening, STK Pastry Chef Brigette Contreras, presented specialty Blue Jasmine Macarons (blue-tinted macarons with a creamy jasmine filling) to Blanchett who was delighted to try more than one.

Guests in attendance included Cate Blanchett; Sally Hawkins; Julie Delpy; director Richard Linklater; Tom Bernard; Michael Barker; singer Olivia Somerlyn; stylist and TV host Phillip Bloch, Creative Coalition CEO Robin Bronk; and Cinetic Media’s John Sloss.
Celebrity Items:
Cate Blanchett—fresh from winning the Spirit Award for Best Actress earlier in the day—looked stunning in a Stella McCartney one-shoulder black jumper. She joked with guests mentioning she was going to wear Crocs on the Red Carpet tomorrow. When asked what she thought STK stood for, she laughed and said “Salad, Tofu, Ketchup?” Continuing the evening in her playful mood, she crawled under the dinner table to not bother her guests when she had to leave.
First time Oscar Nominee Sally Hawkins, brought her parents to the dinner and doted on them the entire evening. She looked very fit in her grey Mulberry dress and had only steamed vegetables at dinner.
Two-time Spirit Award nominee, Julie Delpy, rocked the Red Carpet in her sass & bide one-piece outfit, noting “they make them for men.” She dressed it with a tweed Chanel jacket and Chanel pumps. Guests overheard her mentioning she had to run out to attend a few more parties.

Prior to the sit-down gourmet dinner, guests sampled Möet as they sampled truffle fries; grilled asparagus and goat cheese tarts; spinach, artichoke and crab bruschetta, and grilled lamb loin and almond pesto crostini while refreshing themselves with tray-passed FIJI Water and their signature FIJI Straws. The dinner menu featured a starter of avocado citrus salad, followed by a choice of pan-seared branzino, roasted organic chicken, and petit prime filet. The meal ended with lychee panna cotta.
