Greystone Park
Starring: Sean Stone, Alexander Wraith, Antonella Lantini
Director: Sean Stone
Rated: R
Following in the footsteps of his father Oliver, Sean Stones directorial feature film Greystone Park attempts to leave the shadow of his father by tackling a genre that Oliver hasn’t dabbled in the Found Footage/ Horror genre.
Starting off in a novel enough way Stone sets up the film with a dinner party featuring his dad in a cameo. Reveling in ghost stories and talk of shadow people the conversation quickly turns to Greystone Park an old hospital with a sordid pass, Soon Sean and Antonella find themselves being taken to the hospital for a firsthand look with the not too well known Alexander.
Something is amiss at Greystone quickly testing the trios sanity what is in fact real and what isn’t. The cinematography for a found footage film is well done. The genre is quickly becoming over saturated due to its lower buy in cost to produce. Stone delivers a solid effort , though he is not able to transcend or deliver something we have not been exposed to before. I would much rather have seen him put his own stamp on a unique vision rather than his interpretation of a tired genre. The closing scene is completely unnecessary and truly feels like Sean lost a bet or was told to keep the fedora in if he wanted funding.
