“Push” the ability to put thoughts memories and emotions into one’s mind. This is one of the many telekinetic abilities in the new movie of the same title from Paul Mcguigan the director of the underrated “Lucky Number Slevin

Push stars Chris Evans as Nick Gant a 2nd Generation “Mover” he has the ability to move things with his mind. We find Nick hiding out in from Henry Carver (Djimon Hounsou), the man who killed his father and the leader of “The Division” (a secret government agency that captures people with these abilities and performs tests on them in hopes of developing a serum to enhance their powers). Nick meets Cassie (Dakota Fanning) a “Watcher” who can see glimpses of the future, together they try to find Kira (Camilla Belle) a “Pusher” who escaped The Division and is the only test subject that has taken the Serum and not died. While trying to find Kira and get the serum Nick and Cassie encounter an Asian Gang with their own Powers as well as Assorted current and former members of The Division.

This has to be the worst marketed film in a decade. The previews and even the poster make you think that this is a movie in the vein of Wanted, Where it is an easy to follow Action movie. This could not be further from the truth. The Myspace page gives a better glimpse of what the movie is about creating a comic book to set the tone of the film and providing files on the character and there powers. The film is more cat and mouse than it is Superhero Action Film, It was actually better than I thought. This had the potential to be a really good movie however it feels edited from an R rating to PG-13 to get a bigger audience unfortunately I don’t think this will help. Hopefully on DVD they will re-cut it into the R rated film it should have been. The biggest drawback to the movie is the plot is convoluted and hard to follow. Rising Star Chris Evans does a really good job in this film and easily makes the leap from supporting player to star. Dakota Fanning is a 13yr old who in typical Dakota fashion is more mature, than her age would suggest. She has a great scene where she gets drunk to enhance her ability to see in the future. The weak link in the film is Camilla Belle she is expressionless and dead behind the eyes less of her would have been a good thing.  It would be pushing it (pun intended) to pay full price for this movie but it is definitely worth a matinee.
