Starring: Edward Furlong, Shirly Brener, Laurence Mason, Shawna Waldron
Director: Ajai
Two grieving parents and their two friends go out into the middle of nowhere to perform a cleansing ritual to rid themselves of the guilt of their daughter’s death. While the concept has the makings for some legitimate creepiness, what you get is Edward Furlong walking around bloated and hunched over looking like he is suffering through DT’s and some of the worst special effects to ever grace the screen.
The entire film is a mess the best part about the CGI effects is that they are so bad you can’t tell if it is a green screen or a poorly executed rear projection effect. The makeup effects could be better accomplished by a preteen with Halloween Woochies kit and a steady hand. For some reason there is a demon in the basement, mysterious stitches the size of stevedore knots that show up on people. Crazy biblical lightning, preposterous dialog “Dont move the furniture” all tied into an ending that tries way too hard to be profound.
When you write and direct a movie and then have the audacity to go by a singlular name like Ajai, you better bring your A Game this isn’t even an F+. Not since “The Room” have I seen a movie so miss the mark, though this will never attain the same cult status.
