STARRING: Bernard Holley, Johnny Fleming
Director: Oliver Crocker
A washed up voice over artist sits down with a blogger for an interview in hopes of restarting his once promising career.
Written and Directed by Oliver Crocker (Tanner, The Big Picture) Bernard Holley stars as Jeff Brogan, a voiceover artist who in his prime was the go to guy, if you needed a voiceover for your low budget action indie. The action well is long dried up and Brogans style is so ingrained in his delivery that the grandfather can’t even get voiceover work as a grandfather. When the opportunity to be interviewed by Movie Blogger Han Hesketh (Johnny Fleming) we are greeted with samples of low budget trailers and epic voiceovers as Brogan recounts his career.
The combination of Action trailers with iconic voiceover stylings is a winning formula. Crocker is able to lampoon a tired action genre that retreads sequels and actors well passed their expiration with absurd clichés in a way that is uproarious. To hear such quality lines such as “All beards are off” While a man shaves before he goes on a rampage in the inimitable voice over styling’s or to see 82 year old Frank Williams as a vigilante holding a saber is fantastic. A Voice to Die For is Packed with more laughs and action in 17 minutes than it has a right to do.
In a world where fans of both talent and taste long to be entertained, this is a must see. A Voice to Die for is brilliant.
Grade-96
A Voice to Die For should be hitting the festival circuit soon, I cant recommend this enough.
